I have always associated the Skullcandy brand with luxurious and classic styles. That is, until now, I honestly always thought that the brand is more into stunning designs rather than performance. However, using Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones changed my perception of the brand. The sound quality is quite good; the bass is a little heavy, though.
As for the design, I don’t have to speak much on that. The brand is excellent when it comes to the designing aspect. These headphones are lightweight and very comfortable. The body of Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones does feel a little plastic kind though. However, when it comes to ear padding, I find them to be great! With experience, I would say that these are not very comfortable ones if you are looking for a model of headphones that you can wear while playing some sport.
For some of you, I think these headphones might seem a little tight on the head. When we consider budget-wise, these have to be a great pick and better than certain big brand headphones out in the market.
The sound quality of Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones is fairly good. The bass is powerful and seep. The mid-range is quite average, and treble is detailed. The performance of these headphones can be considered to be better than most in this budget range. The sound is sharp, and clarity is perfect.
The bass can get a little high and’ boom’ more than usual at times. Therefore, you can expect a little inconsistency in the sound at high volumes. I will rate Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones at 8 out of 10 in terms of sound quality if I consider different aspects. The sound is quite exciting and appealing to the ears. Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones is the type of model I would not mind having on for the entire day to listen to the music of my choice.
Video and sound delay
Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones have a latency of 170s. This is certainly not an ideal latency value to watch a lot of video content. However, this value is the average value for most wireless Bluetooth headphones in the market. So, I would not exactly say that it is a very negative feature that places competitive products higher as most of them lie in the same latency range.
A quick tip: If you do feel like using them for watching videos, using them as wired ones would be a smarter choice.
Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones have a great battery life. They have a playback time of around 19-20 hours without any hindrance. Moreover, all they take is one hour to get charged completely! This is something that I personally love about these headphones.
On top of that, I just charge it once in the morning and am good to go for the entire day without any interruptions. Sometimes, even if I forget to put the headphones on charge at night, a simple 10-minute charge in the morning is also enough to give my day a good head start. However, a little downside is that they do not automatically shut down when they have been inactive for a while. So, you would have to do it manually only.
There are quite a few positives about buying Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones. I find them to be a great pick for a number of reasons such as:
- Amazing wireless range; about 50 ft when the Bluetooth is obstructed and about 189 ft. Considering the line of sight range.
- Fast charging facility with great battery life; 19-20 hours of playback time.
- Lightweight and comfortable in design.
Which model does not have negatives? You can’t really like everything about a product unless you buy something of too high a range as compared to your budget. There are a few weaknesses of Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones, as well. These could have been improved upon. The most significant ones include:
- Noise isolation is not that strong, and sound leakage issues can occur too.
- Bass can get too heavy at high volumes, and the mid-range has issues too.
- The looks of it are a little ‘plastic,’ which makes the appeal somewhat unattractive.
Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones fall under the category of best headphones under $100. This is because they are lightweight, fairly decent design, and an amazing wireless range. The battery life is nice too. But, when it comes to bass and sound isolation, these headphones can take a little backseat. There are a few models in the market that give good competition to Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones.
For example, Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless Headphones and Skullcandy Crusher Wireless Headphones 2016 model are great competition for these headphones. While the Hesh 3 model is better in terms of comfort and sound quality, Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless Headphones model has a better battery life and lesser latency. Also, the build of the Skullcandy Crusher Wireless Headphones 2016 model is better. Moreover, the bass is slightly better in quality too.
Cowin E7 Pro Headphones and Sennheiser HD 4.40 BT Wireless headphones are an amazing pick too and, thus, in competition with Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones. The latency of Sennheiser HD 4.40 BT Wireless headphones is lesser. Therefore, the model is much better when it comes to watching videos. Cowin E7 Pro Headphones are better in comfort and fit on the ears.
Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless Headphones are a fairly excellent choice when it comes to buying good quality headphones under $100. The brand is known for its great styling and comfort. Also, the battery life of the product is great. This means that you can definitely consider buying the product if you are someone who likes to have headphones on while working throughout the day. The sound quality is decent and does not disturb one’s comfort. Therefore, one can listen with ease for long hours. For watching videos too, all you have to do is use them wired, and you are good to go!
