It’s been almost 3 years since Apple introduced the 1st generation AirPods. Now two of their biggest rivals, Amazon and Google, are introducing truly wireless earbuds of their own. below you can find a breakdown of what’s to come from these tech giants.

Truly Wireless

All three earbuds will be truly wireless, meaning you’ll get a chargeable case with 2 wireless buds equipped with a built-in microphone.

Battery

The AirPods Gen2 and come with a regular or wireless charging case that holds up to 24 hours of music listening time, and additional 5 hours in the earbuds themselves, the same as Google’s Pixel Buds. Amazon’s case will hold up to 20 hours, and an additional 5 hours in the earbuds.

Sweat and Water Resistance

Amazon’s Echo Buds are IPX4 water resistant, Google’s Pixel Buds will also be water resistant, while Apple’s AirPods aren’t.

Alexa, Siri and Google assistant

Each earbud will technically support all 3, but if you want the best connectivity and native experience you’ll probably want to go with the brand name.

When Can I Get Them?

The Echo Buds will be released on October 30, 2019. And the Google Pixel Buds sometime in Spring 2020. We’ll have to hold until then to review their sound quality, fit, and user experience.
